A BRIEF HISTORY OF MOUNT MORIAH LODGE NO. 24
In the year 1956, a body consisting of fifty men organized a club, under the name and title Blue Eagle Benevolent Association, with the intention of forming a Masonic Lodge.
After a period of time, the said group requested permission from the Grand Lodge of the Province of Ontario (PH), which is now known as The Most Worshipful Prince Hall Grand Lodge Province of Ontario and Jurisdiction, to become a Masonic Lodge. In 1957, the request was granted and the name Mount Moriah Lodge was chosen. The body was then placed under Dispensation by the Most Worshipful Grand Master, the Hon. with the following officers:
On August 11, 1958, the said body was then warranted and chartered under the name and title Mount Moriah Lodge No. 24. Following this, on November 7th 1958, the Lodge was dedicated and consecrated, after which a banquet was held at Windsor Station. The guest speaker was the Hon. , Past Grand Master of the Most Worshipful Prince Hall Grand Lodge of Michigan.
Over the years, Mount Moriah Lodge No. 24 has been instrumental in the creation of the following: Eve Chapter No. 11 (Order of the Eastern Star), Solomon Lodge No. 26, King David Lodge No. 30, and Maple Leaf Lodge No. 31.
Throughout the years, Mount Moriah Lodge No. 24 has been actively involved in the community by awarding scholarships and bursaries to deserving students, making charitable donations to churches and other deserving individuals.
